Papa loves Mambo

Photobucket

Although my blog might put off a certain feel, I don't like to limit it to one thing, sticking strictly to one genre just isn't me. I like to mix things up, and this blog is no different. Today I'm going to let you peek into my favorite section of my closet, the vintage section.
All of my cloths aren't vintage, not even half, It actually makes up a very small portion of my wardrobe (but it does take up a large portion of my jewelry, but that's another blog).
I would probably have more if A. I fit into more dresses I liked. & B. had the money to buy more. Point A. I am currently trying to fix (haha)
Also, no matter how much I like that particular style in cloths, I couldn't limit myself to just that.
If you know me personally you know I am likely to attach myself to most anything, one day it could be a sex pistols T-shirt, the next day a flowing dress, & the next they could be together in one ensemble. Sometimes I look dressy, sometimes I just look like a bum, sometimes I look vintage, sometimes I look like a grandmother/librarian, and sometimes I look like I had a sudden brain aneurysm while standing in front of my closet, but hey that's me.

The four dresses above I absolutely love (way to state the obvious, why else would I put them up, hmm?) Three are mine, and the one in the bottom right hand corner is my mothers wedding dress (which I never wear, or could fit into hehe)

Now, the coat above is serious business (& yes thats me), It is by far my favorite article of clothing hands down. I bought it in a re-sale shop downtown in the city where I live.
It is in PERFECT condition, and I mean perfect, no snags, stains, rips, or discoloration.
It looked so good I wouldn't have know it to be vintage if it had not been for the tag and stitching.
but the most amazing thing about this coat is it was $10!
I could see this coat going for at least $50 or $60 on etsy.com

But where did this love of vintage come from you might ask? Well, it almost came natural, My father spawned a love for oldies music early on in my life, taking me with him to some of his DJ gigs, I remember dancing to all kinds of 50's music, and going crazy when he played "charlie brown" for me. That of coarse led to my almost obsession with vinyl, and my love of anything remotely old and smells like its been sitting in an attic for 30/40 or so years.

Until next time,

The Earth laughs in flowers

Photobucket

As many of you know I have recently moved into a new house, with it I leave behind many fond memories. As time passes its picture will fade away , The color of the rooms will fall to the shadows of the back of my mind, and the house itself will be a distant thought.
The house itself held nothing special, but I have to give credit to where it stood.
Skimming through photographs I had taken, one similarity stuck out to me, over half of the photos were taken on our property. Some on rainy days, foggy mornings, the twilight of summer, and sunny spring days with flowers in bloom. So in homage of such a striking subject, I will devote this blog to all the great photographs It has given me. I will share with you now some of my favorite photos I have taken around our property...

"And this, our life, exempt from public haunt, finds tongues in trees, books in the running brooks, sermons in stones, and good in everything."

To every season...

Photobucket

I could tell you this is my favorite season, but I hate to lie... most of the time. haha
Each season to me has its own beauties and downfalls, just like the average person.
A few days ago I was writing a poem and thought up this little line, I didn't fit into the poem what so ever and I haven't found it a home in anything I'm currently writing, so Ill Share it with you because I feel that it fits here.
"No matter how far their roots sink low, a tree will fall, and another grow."

This to me describes life and death, which make up nature in general, along with another cold hard fact, that it is all out of our hands.
Whether you follow Creationism, Darwinism, or (my personal favorite) Insanitism this is a fact that everyone must face.
With gain comes loss, with sorrow comes hugs, the dead leaves of winter will decompose, and sprouting up anew from the autumn mulch, a spring flower.
"To everything there is a season" made famous by Ecclesiastes, and sang by The Byrds was true one thousand years ago, and will be true one thousand years from now.

Another thing I find true is my love of classic, antique, and vintage. While stopping in a local antique shop a few weeks ago, I came across a number of things I found interesting, but one in particular tackled my vision like a football player. I saw her from across the room, I had to approach her,she was stunning and sleak, I knew I had to have her.

Peggy,(named after Mad Men character Peggy Olson)
My Kodak Duaflex Camera (made:1947-1951), her price was $8, but I only had a five dollar bill in my pocket, So I haggled and left the shop pockets empty , hands full, face grinning.
Right now my resources are limited,Traditional Film Camera skill remedial and funds low, so until This improves, I will be using Peggy TTV (Through The View Finder).
Click here to learn what TTV is, and how its done

I have already taken dozens and dozens of pictures, but with my time being so tight lately I haven't gone out and gotten any worthy subject matter. I do promise to post when I think the pictures are where they need to be, so stay tuned!

Until next time,
